Project Summaries

These summaries describe a sampling of the variety of custom applications we have created for our clients over the years. We work with each client to determine the structure and detail of the business solution required and remain in close communication throughout the development and deployment process.

Translation & Interface Applications

A bi-directional interface system was developed to communicate between the outsourced Benefits Administrator (for health & welfare and 401K) and the internal Human Resource and Payroll system for a major corporation. This system automatically provided the information necessary for the employee's benefits to be efficiently managed, while assuring the benefits administrator that the proper payroll deductions were being made and reported.

Conversion and Testing Software

We have been involved in numerous payroll and HR system conversions and upgrades, each of which required some level of custom translation tools to be developed. An outgrowth of testing the converted system was the development of our Parallel Testing System, a general-purpose database application that compares payroll runs of two systems. The system analyzes the two payroll runs and produces results that finds discrepancies and shows error trends, significantly reducing the time required to implement a new payroll system.

Mission Critical Custom Applications

When an entrepreneur wanted to start a new service business but needed a custom application in order to make the business viable, he came to Zacaw. This complex application provided an easy-to-use front-end graphical user interface, which incorporated client information, billing, invoice functions, operational, and maintenance modules. This, coupled with a back-end interface to an industry-leading fax, e-mail, and voice broadcast engine enabled this startup company to get their business off the ground and function productively from the beginning.

Automation of Manual Systems

An application developed for a local manufacturing firm took their drawers of index cards containing customer requirements data and brought it into a database. The key to the success of the deployment of this application was that it was designed to operate as closely as possible to the old manual card-based system. This minimized training time and maximized user acceptance.

Problem and Call Tracking System

The technical support organization of an international data storage manufacturer needed a better way to track both customer problems and potential bugs in their complex storage systems. A custom multi-user call tracking application was developed that allowed any support engineer to immediately find out the status of all recorded incidents. The system met with such success that adapted variations of it were deployed in a total of 5 separate departments within the corporation.
